Author, entrepreneur, and brand creator Quentin Holmes—known to his friends as “Q”—has dedicated his life to empowering youth through literature, media, and fashion.
As the son of a hardworking father whose career required frequent relocation, Quentin grew up experiencing life in nearly every region of the United States. This unique upbringing exposed him to diverse communities across social, economic, and cultural backgrounds. Over time, his family achieved greater financial stability, creating opportunities that previous generations had not experienced.
Grounded in a strong family tradition that values education, Quentin earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Michigan. There, he connected with peers from across the globe—suburban neighborhoods, rural farming communities, inner cities, and developing countries—all united by a shared goal: earning a college education. These experiences further broadened his perspective on diversity and opportunity.
Through these relationships, Quentin came to understand a powerful truth: life is less about where you come from, and more about where you are—and where you’re going.
Inspired by this belief, he launched his first brand, At Wear Apparel, in 2003. The brand quickly gained national attention, earning features in SLAM Magazine, Dime Magazine, Long Beach Press-Telegram, BlackVibes.com, and the feature film The Reunion.
Since 2009, Quentin has expanded his impact through the Real Street Kidz Multicultural Book Series, giving a powerful and much-needed voice to preteen readers ages 7–12. His stories reflect the values he grew up with—hard work, perseverance, and teamwork—with collaboration at the heart of every storyline.
He has also created beloved characters like Johnny Skip2 and Sporty Lou, bringing diverse and inspiring stories to younger readers (ages 3–6). Like the Real Street Kidz series, these picture books aim to inspire, empower, and entertain the next generation.
